What We Do

The ALFA Foundation is dedicated to empowering the next generation of artists from East Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Valley by providing meaningful, ongoing support for their educational and creative journeys.

We believe that art is more than expression — it is a viable, vibrant career path and a powerful tool for personal growth and community change. That's why we invest in young artists through a range of accessible, impactful programs designed to reduce barriers, build confidence, and create opportunity.

Our Impact

The ALFA Foundation began in 2017 as a small, family-led effort to honor the memory of Alexander Luna by awarding one to two college scholarships each year to promising young artists at Woodrow Wilson Senior High. From 2017 to 2021, this grassroots initiative quietly supported local students with a deep belief in their talent and potential.

In 2021, we officially transitioned into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit — and with that step, our impact grew. Since then, we've expanded our scholarship program to reach 5 to 9 student-artists annually and extended eligibility to other high schools across East Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Valley.

To date, we have awarded 25 college scholarships to emerging artists pursuing careers in the creative fields — each one a reflection of our commitment to access, education, and the belief that a life in the arts is both powerful and possible.

What began as a single family's tribute has become a vibrant, growing movement to support the next generation of creatives across our communities.
